Dr. J: Well, remember the name of God as often as you can, try to recollect certain good sentiments. Little, little tips like that can help. Smt. H: Remember that this illness is also temporary, this shall also pass and after every illness, body and mind become stronger. I have seen that even children, after an illness, look more grown-up. Illness doesn’t harm, to come out of it, we develop more strength. So take illness positively, not negatively; the mind should not get disturbed.Q. Why is it that sacrifice and control is only for the woman; like Sati, divorce, woman touching man’s feet, woman going to husband’s house after marriage? Man can marry several times, is it because man is physically stronger and generally financially strong?

What we have to understand is that for knowledge, many things are involved. Words are there, meaning of the words, the understanding that comes. Many things join to make up the meaning. So when we talk of concentration, we have to go into details.

7th July 2013 - Sunday - Difficulties in the Study of Yoga “We have difficulties in life in everything we do, because we are not clear in it. What is it that we usually want? Whether it is clarity, peace of mind, money, pleasure, we are not clear. So we succeed in one area – make money, but suffer in another area – getting peace. And it goes on. I think gaining some clarity is very necessary. And even little time spent in that everyday can help us. We don’t need to spend too much time doing Puja and meditation but allowing the mind to settle down, to become peaceful and in that condition searching out people who can share. Small efforts of this kind may in the end help in deciding what is the right thing to do. So let us invest our time in a correct manner and come to know what is really important.”8th July 2013 - Monday - Asmita

Patanjali Yoga Sutra Transcribed from Parisamvad at The Yoga Institute.Chapter 1, Sutra 40Patanjali Yoga Sutra 1.40Paramanu-Paramamahattva-Antah-Asya- VasikarahParamanu: from the minutest Paramamahattva: largeness, magnitude Anah: end, extending to Asya: of this, of his or hers Vasikarah: mastery, powerWhen The Mind Develops The Power Of Stabilizing On The Smallest Size As Well As On The Greatest One , Then The Mind Comes Under Control.Listen to the audio:Check this out on ChirbitDr. Jayadeva Yogendra:"We are talking about concentration. When we can concentrate on subtle things, atoms, infra atoms, then we get control. Mind becomes steady, Vasanas (latent desires) reduce, there is complete control on mind. Then there is understanding. It is not easy to reach this state. Remaining steady and reducing the Vasanas is difficult. The mind keeps running, old desires surface. When we reach that state then special powers come to us and the steady mind can do a lot of things.

Listen to the Audio:Check this out on Chirbit“When we talk of difficulties, understand that life is nothing but a struggle. Difficulties come at every level… at the physical level, we may have a fall or fracture, at the mental level, we may lack understanding and clarity of what we are required to do. It is very important to be clear of what we should do and why. The purpose should be understood. We should keep aside some time to bring in this understanding. Bring in clarity on the plan and the means to execute the plan. Thinking and action should be parallel to each other. We cannot only think all the time and do no work, or work without thinking; both have to done simultaneously. There is a story of devils who came together for a meeting to discuss how to make the smart humans weak. Brainstorming lead to suggestions to incorporating anger, lust, etc in humans but these suggestions were shot down. Finally they decided to add “thinking” as a weakness for humans which would lead to inaction. The point is, there is no end to thinking.

Listen to the audio:Check this out on ChirbitQ. Girl and boy both agree for love marriage but the girl’s parents are against the marriage. How should yoga apply in this stage of life? Dr. J: I think the Yogis should become parents and then get their children married. Then problems will be less. Smt. H: You see, parents are after all parents and they have a fear. They have their own tendencies, their own ideas. You can try and make them understand or make them understand that with or without their yes you would still get married. If they see your determination, maybe they would agree, otherwise still do it and after they see you are happy, they will be happy. They are not your enemies but maybe they have their own rigid ideas. I’ll give you my example, my parents didn’t want me to get married to Dr. Jayadeva, it was out of the question. But I was determined and I said ‘I am in any case getting married.’ And I left the house and came, got married. Then afterwards they saw that I had settled and didn’t want to come back, they were happy and once Patanjali was born, they were most happy. Then they were talking and joining us. We have to keep patience. Everybody can’t be happy around you all the time, so don’t keep that in mind.Q. It seems everything is pre-destined. Any comments?
