"They say that the knowable material world is only for the experience of the spirit. The point is that this whole world is for experience. The spirit within is Purusha or consciousness and Prakriti is the material world. The nature of Prakriti is explained in the two earlier Sutras viz. it has its own character and is made of 3 Gunas which are continuously active. Now what we have to do is experience, learn from our experience and go above the experience.

Q. Which technique should be used to manage anger? Smt. H: There are many techniques. Some people, when angry, lock themselves in the bathroom and start singing. Some people just go for a run for 1 or 2 Kms and come back. Some people take a cold bath, some go for shopping but don't buy anything. Some do some Asanas, Pranayama or meditation. There are various ways, every human will have to find out for themselves what helps them overpower their anger immediately. But something has to be done. Any yoga technique will help. Do Jalneti, then automatically the mind will settle down. Find out according to the time and situation what you can do. If your boss is shouting, you can do Yogendra Pranayama IV, which he will not be able to see. Main thing is bring some compassion, understand and love for the opposite person in your mind and don't react.

Q. My wife watches TV serials and recounts them with me. What can be done about this?

“Ahimsa is a such a subject that we seriously need to give a thought to because we are doing Himsa all the time. The first Himsa we do is to ourselves. People come and tell me, ‘Hansaji, I feel hurt very fast if someone doesn’t behave properly with me.’ Expecting others to behave in a certain way, speak and smile in a certain way, makes it difficult. All that is not possible. It is important to accept people the way they are. See their positive qualities and accept them.

Patanjali Yoga Sutra Transcribed from Parisamvad at The Yoga Institute.Chapter 2, Sutra 20Patanjali Yoga Sutra 2.20Drasta Drsimatrah Suddhah Api PratyayanupasyahDrasta: the seer Drsimatrah: power of seeing Suddhah: pure Api: even though Pratyaya: the cause Anupasyah: appearing to seeThis Seer Is Consciousness Only, Even Though Pure He Re-PerceivesListen to the audio:Check this out on ChirbitDr. Jayadeva Yogendra:

“They talk of the seer that is consciousness, and the seen that is external world. The external world is just for seeing, it's pure, it doesn’t have any particular picture on it, but what we see is all coloured, it’s not pure. These are where the problem comes. We get mixed up. We have the capacity to see the external world as it is. But we just can’t see. We see it in some colours, some form, some shapes. This is what the Sutra is saying.”

"Yoga talks about faith. When we use the words 'saints' and 'sages' what's most outstanding in their personality is their strong faith in God or Higher Reality. Once a person has faith, then all the fear, anxiety, tension, worry goes away because you are not running the whole show. Someone else whom we call higher reality or consciousness or God, etc. they are running the whole show.
