With this guru vandana we start a blessed day. Gurudev Dr. Jayadevaji ‘s 88th birthday. A nimble mind, resilient spirit and a great yoga teacher.
Dr. Jayadeva Yogendra, (M.A., PhD.) fondly known as Dr. Saheb, pioneered work in Yoga Education and Therapeutics. A scholar and a true yogi. He learnt yoga under the guidance of his father, Shri Yogendraji, Founder of The Yoga Institute and Father of Modern Yoga Renaissance.
Dr. Jayadeva’s most significant contribution to the yoga renaissance is the introduction of Bhavas as expounded in the Samkhya philosophy, in conjunction with the practice of classical yoga asanas. He was awarded the prestigious Hargobindas scholarship in 1955 for his remarkable work on Moksa Parvan of the Mahabharata (His Doctoral Thesis)
Under his astute supervision the vision of yoga for all from local to global level has seen many milestones. His unique take on classical yoga for the householder’s has seen tailor made programs and wide array of publications that cover varied range of problems and yoga application in daily life. His extensive work on Cyclopaedia Volumes for Yoga is quite popular.
