Hansaji after
her marriage to the Director of The Yoga Institute Dr.Jayadeva
Yogendra, was instrumental in making radical changes
in the work done by the Institute- expansion of the
Ladies Wing; regularizing the monthly Seven-day Residential
Camp and the 21 day Better Living Course, more special
classes for Women, Children’s Camp, Couples Classes,
Pregnancy and prenatal and post natal classes and the
most recent one is the Menopause Camp. Another feature
of her teaching is a strong focus on Isvarapraridhana
(surrender to the will of God), which allows the individual
to face any situation in life.
Smt. Hansaji Jayadeva has been selected "Woman
of the Year 2000”, by American Biographical Institute,
U.S.A. for her outstanding accomplishment and the noble
example she has set for her peers and entire community.
At present, she is the Director of The Yoga Institute
and the President of The International Board of Yoga.
She is perhaps best known throughout the nation as the
charming lady who is the Yoga expert in the popular
television series 'Yoga for Better Living’, first
televised in 1980 which was judged the best programme
of this time. But unlike many 'stars' she just does
not act the part on the screen but lives what she preaches.
She was recognized for her contribution to Women's
Health through the award presented by SPARC. She has
been recently selected as "Woman of the Year 2000"
by the American Biographical Institute, U.S.A for her
outstanding accomplishment and the noble example she
has set for her peers and entire country. She is a much
sort after National and International speaker. She has
conducted several seminars and lecture tours in India
and in Europe, Australia, Canada, Pakistan, Hong Kong
and United States of America
She has authored many Yoga books including Yoga Daily
Planner - Heart Care, Dincharya, Yogic Life-Cure of
Asthma and Bronchitis, Yogic Life-Control of Diabetes,
Yoga of Caring, Thoughts on the Gita and Insights through
Yoga. Hansaji has a regular feature on Patanjali’s
Yoga Sutra and The Bhagvad Gita in the Journal of The
Yoga Institute (Yoga and Total Health) now in its 50th
volume.
Recently she was invited by the National Council for
Education Research and Training along with Dr. Jayadeva
to advice on formulating a Yoga education syllabus for
schools nationwide.
What is truly remarkable is the fact that all of her
achievements have been made within the confines of suburban
Bombay, and not as some might deem necessary, in the
Himalayas. She is the embodiment of Indian Womanhood
and an inspiration to all who visit The Yoga Institute. |
