Editorial by Dr. Jayadeva Yogendra
A variety of writing on Yoga is available today. The authors of these writing make themselves appear authoritative. They claim that they visited the Himalayas and they gathered profound Yogic knowledge there or they met a great Yogi who could fly in the air or walk on water that taught them Yogic techniques. The author provides new and sensational material – the publisher does the rest of the job by inserting reviews by celebrities or opinion of Journalists and writer. The Yoga book become the best seller, but beware the publisher’s propaganda should not dupe the innocent reader too much.
Yoga and Total Health Magazine - July 2008 Issue

Let us read books with interest and even fascination. But let us leave it there. In case the writer and this earlier books are referred to in other writing or are studied by scholarly authors and in case the theory and techniques have been put to use and tested, then one could proceed further by personally trying out a little of what could be understood. from the writing.

There is a lot of hyperbole or arthavada in this kind of works. Careful study of the writing is suggested. Do not take the claims made there on the face valve. ”Stand on your head for twenty hours and your Kundaline Shakti will get awakened – a sop provide by a great Yogi, and a reader underwent sad experiences in following the instructions!

We should read; the Yoga books wisely and practice cautiously.

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali by Hansaji
Chapter III Sutra 51
This is a very well known Sutra. It deals with Yogis reaching higher levels of consciousness. At such times it so happens that situation around changes. Very attractive propositions come up. It is said that Yogi should maintain his clarity and reject these kinds of offers. Of course the offers can come in different forms. Various susceptible areas of a human being can be evoked. Basically this will happen to be the weakness of that individual. It can be “a very tragic call for help or the request of a very dear one etc.” The point here is that the student of yoga does not forget his first priority. Never allows his priority to get weakened. Only in such cases where he is required he may help but not allow the central objective to get disturbed. He recognizes the sad possibilities that would occur if he deviated. There is no compromise in his life now, of losing clarity of his objective.
