“It is my satisfaction that instead of passing my life in the jungle, obscure and lonely by some certain inspiration I have been directed to reveal to the public what I felt is truth about this science”
– Shri Yogendraji, Founder of The Yoga Institute
Our founder, Shri Yogendraji’s life mission was to bring yoga out of the forest, hermitages and make it freely accessible to all members of society—men, women, young, old, sick, healthy, people of all communities, in all parts of the world.
To actualize his mission Shri Yogendraji and his wife Smt. Sitadevi worked tirelessly to make the science of Yoga available to people the world over and founded The Yoga Institute and set up its permanent centre in Santacruz (East), Mumbai in 1948.
In alignment with the vision of our Founder, to disseminate the message of Yoga to the world, The Yoga Institute is expanding its geographical presence to reach out to more people.
As a step in this direction, we have opened the following branches in Mumbai, and offer special classes on weekdays and on weekends for the benefit of people living in the distant suburbs.
