The Shri Yogendra Library was inaugurated on 18th November, 1978, at The Yoga Institute.
Prof. T.R. Anantharaman, Director of Yoga Sadhana Kendra, Banaras Hindu University, while inaugurating the library said, “I have come on a pilgrimage. If this is not a pilgrimage where else will I find one…I have the privilege of inaugurating the Shri Yogendra Library which has a beautiful atmosphere of quietude. In our country there has been a tradition of hearing, reflecting and pondering and making the knowledge available for self-realization…”
The Shri Yogendra Library contains more than 6,000 books in various languages and on various subjects related to the study of yoga and spirituality. Besides several scriptures and their commentaries, there are books on Samkhya philosophy, Astanga Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, Tantra Yoga, etc.
The collections on philosophy, human physiology, psychology, history and culture, etc. are enough to satisfy the needs of the keen students and teachers of yoga.
