500 hours Intermediate Teacher Training Course (ITTC) – syllabus provides a strong base and in-depth study of classical asthanga yoga (Eightfold path yoga.) After successfully completing the course, ITTC certificate holders will be qualified to conduct Yoga sessions for

1. Three Themes – The Topic of the Month or Tom

a. History and Background of Yoga

2. Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras- Select sutras with in-depth meaning are covered.

4. Bhavas of Buddhi – Basic of yoga education- A detailed study of eight traits (Bhavas) of buddhi acquired due to the influence of Trigunas on Buddhi.

 

5. Hathyoga pradipika & Gheranda samhita – Introduction to the Hatha Yoga texts, traditions, their principles, their techniques, aims, and objectives; with some insights to their propounders namely Matsyendranath and Gorakshanath.

 

6. Anatomy–Physiology – A general understanding and knowledge of the various body systems in understanding the breathing rhythm and complementary / counterposes.

What are online guidelines for students/participants during online class?

 

Pre-requisites: Knowledge of written and spoken English is a must. Wear loose comfortable clothing. Avoid a full breakfast just before the asana sessions and as directed by teachers or coordinators. Keep a time gap of at least two to three hours between the meal and the start of the session. Keep fruit or dry fruit handy before the session to energise if required. Keep a notepad and pen handy to take notes. Good internet connectivity and speed.

 

During the class:  Select a place in your house where there are no disturbances during the session. No movement of your family members in and out of the space utilised to attend the session. This should be strictly followed. Preferably the door may be kept closed during the session.

 

Attendance: A student is required to have a minimum of 80% attendance, failing which he or she cannot appear for the Institute exam. In such cases, students would be denied certification. All classes need to be compulsorily attended.

 

You cannot turn off the video unless instructed or permitted otherwise by the coordinator or teacher. Kindly keep all devices including your device volume on mute. Only Zoom app volume should be on.

 

Your attendance will be monitored regularly.

 

*No requests for recordings or sharing of the session shall be granted.

 

Questions & Answers Sessions: The last 5 to 10 minutes is to be kept aside for question & answer. The interaction with participants will be coordinated by the teacher taking the class online. Please await the cue from the teacher to engage in questions & answers. Please use the Raise Hand option and chat option, of Zoom Meeting, to share your views or questions when the time is provided for the same by the teacher.

These recordings are strictly for the institute and the data is stored securely in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure. Do students/participants get assignments and study material?

Yes, Course Material will be provided- We will be providing you with Teacher Training Handbook for your reading and guidance.  Observation sheets to record the observations of daily practices along with the useful guidelines for the same.

When will the exams be conducted and how?

Examination: The final exams are held at the end of the course online. Theory, as well as practical exams, will be taken on successful completion of said course, attendance, and other formalities

The date and timing of the same would be informed on the WhatsApp group. A mock exam (both practical and theory) would be conducted before the final exam. The format of the exam would be the multiple-choice questions without negative marking.

How do we get certificates?

On successful completion of the Yoga teacher training course, which includes required class attendance, submission of assignments, mid-term and final evaluations (theory & practical’s) successful students will be awarded certificates of The Yoga Institute.

 

The Yoga Institute’s E-certificates would be awarded, post clearing exams and fulfilling the attendance criteria. If hard copies of the certificates are required by the students then they will have to send in a request by email with details to info@theyogainstitute.org. Only courier charges are to be borne by the student/participant applying for a physical copy of the certificate.

 

Successful students will also be eligible to appear for the YCB certificate, conducted by the YCB (Yoga Certification Board- set up by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India) and they will be eligible to register with  Yoga Alliance.

 

NOTE: All study material available for the students for any course in physical (hard copy) only. The same can be collected by the student directly from the Institute or can be delivered to them by courier, charges of which will have to be borne by the student.

  1. COURSE DETAILS: KNOWLEDGE

 

  1. THREE THEMES – TOPIC OF THE MONTH (TOM)

These themes provide the general direction to each segment of the course. Together they equip the learner with the holistic nature of the Art, Science, and Culture of Yoga.

 

The three topics covered are:

a. History and Background of Yoga

b. Modern Physical Approach and the Impact of Materialism.

c. Technology of Yoga

 

2. PATANJALI’S YOGA SUTRA

Conceptual learning and corresponding perceptions developed through the

study of Patanjali Yoga Darshana. They are listed in three clusters to

correspond with the three themes (TOM).

 

The focus is on the concept and one or two key sutras each time. Some of the key concepts covered are Vrittis, abhyasa-vairagya, Ishwarpranidhana, Kleshas, Upaya pratyaya, Yamas, Niayamas, Asana,

Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana-Dhyana-Samadhi, Antaraya/Vikshepa, Sahabhuva, Kriya Yoga, Karma theory.

 

3. BHAGWADA GITA

This class takes students through selected shlokas of the BHAGWADA GITA – its understanding, interpretation, and application of its essence to daily life. Study of the Bhagwad Geeta’s view on similar concepts as discussed in Yogasutra and Samkhya e.g. concept of Sthitapragnya, Karma, Gyana, Bhakti, and Gunas. This is to be treated as a part of Yoga Psychology in Theory and practice.

 

4. BHAVAS OF BUDDHI – BASIS OF YOGA EDUCATION

A detailed study of eight traits (Bhavas) of buddhi acquired due to influence of Trigunas on Buddhi

  1. The characteristics and concepts of the four sattvic bhavas and the four tamasik bhavas.

 

5. HATHYOGA PRADIPIKA & GHERANDA SAMHITA

Introduction to the Hatha Yoga texts, traditions, their principles, their techniques, aims, and objectives; with some insights to their propounders namely Matsyendranath and Gorakshanath.

 

6. ANATOMY–PHYSIOLOGY

A general understanding of the main organs in each system; their overall structure and location. The knowledge of the various body systems should aid in understanding the breathing rhythm and complementary / counter poses.

  1. The nine Major systems of the body with their main functions and the effect of Yoga practices on each of them.
  2. The role of Yoga in promotion of good health.

Yoga And Stress Management.

 

7. YOGIC DIET

THE objectives of this session is to build familiarity with

  1. Triguna, with an Ayurvedic approach to diet and nutrition; and the ethical and spiritual reasons for a sattvic vegetarian diet.
  2. The different diets and its effects on the anatomy and physiology, Yogic diet – a lacto vegetarian, sattvic approach to food.

  2. Final exams will be conducted within 7 days, after the course end date.
