Q. What is the the definition of spirituality in yoga? Dr. J: Simplicity and hard work. Smt. H: And in whatever work you do, keep in mind that you are doing the work of God, or that you are not the doer, you are just an instrument in doing the job. This body, mind and intelligence are used to do the work. So the 'Me' and 'Mine' and 'I did' should go, then only can God be experienced.

Q. We do good things in a happy way, yet from within, we want a word of appreciation. Will we ever be able to get spiritual?

“I think the things were explained very well (in the Satsang). One thing is very clear that we don’t have to mix spirituality and materialism. Life is life and all these things (that were explained) are needed. And that is why it is said that we should practice the Purusharthas. Do your duty, earn money, have recreation and see to it that all the things we are doing are always with some purpose, understanding, some discipline to reach a better level of consciousness.

“We must always remain in a balanced state. If you noticed in the Bharatnatyam performance today, the dancer had a pleasant expression on her face throughout the dance inspite of having to do many turns and standing on one leg, etc. We can equate this with our life. When problems arise, we too tend to go round and round and face situations. But the Sadhana here is to maintain your balance throughout so that no matter what, we will not fall.
