Dr. Jayadeva on ‘Santosh’ (Contentment) at the Satsang

The topic for the Hindi Satsang on Sunday, 16th June, 2013 was ‘Santosh.’ (Contentment)

Following is the transcript of the speech made by Dr. Jayadeva Yogendra on the topic.

Dr. Jayadeva Yogendra

“A man who has contentment is always happy. He doesn’t run after more and more. others might call it less, but for him it is enough. Great men in Indian history were all contented. Raja (King) Janak did not think of starting a war for more and more territory. He believed in God and he believed in the situations that would always do good to him. All his life he was very happy. Tilak, Ghandiji, all are the examples. They were able to do a lot. Contentment towards property, towards family, towards money, towards relations, towards situations, all this is required. There is a recent example in our Couples’ Class, a young man came, handsome, nice, good looking and a well placed person in life. And the person with whom he got married, she was practically blind; they got married, and came to know only later on in life. But he had accepted that if they both are there together -fine, and he was totally contented. He didn’t think of anything else, never objected to anything in life and they are living very happily. Whatever you are, God always provides everything. Just live within that.”

Satsang is an open meeting held every Sunday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at The Yoga Institute, Santacruz East, Mumbai. It involves an interesting presentation to the public, made by the students of the Teacher Training Course. Each week, a new presentation of a Yogic concept is made in a simple way through skits and decoration for the general public, followed by a short speech from our Gurus, Dr. Jayadeva and Smt.
