Ganesh Chaturthi 2017
वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय सूर्यकोटि समप्रभ ।
निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा ॥
I meditate on Lord Ganesha- who has a curved trunk, magnanimous presence, and the glory of million suns,
O Lord, remover of all obstacles, may all my work be free of obstacles, all the time.
The elephant-headed Lord is the embodiment of the supreme consciousness. The “Gana” means “group” and “pati” signifies master or lord of the diverse energies of the universe which would be in chaos if not ruled by the supreme or the absolute.
Yoga practitioners on a mission to connect with the higher consciousness or the Supreme One, often find the symbol of Ganesha at parity with their quest. In the Yogic context, Supreme Lord Ganesha is associated with spiritual and meditation practices. Many instances of Vedic rituals mention ‘Ganapati’ Mantras.
Try to meditate on-
Observe the big forehead of the Ganesha -It sends a message “Think Big.” Learn to think before you act.
Eyes small and gentle- So try to see beyond the obvious. Do not form opinions in life. Judge less love more.
Big Belly teaches – You learn to digest everything that comes across your path. Including all the nonsense of the world and do not get affected by it.
Small legs teach- You learn to stay at one place and meditate on things.
Rat at the feet- Symbolizes controlling of all the ‘Indriyas’ or sense organs under control (Sight, smell, sound, speech and touch)
God of learning- He is depicted holding Vedas in one hand and a pen in the other. A brilliant scholar who has written the epic ‘Mahabharata’ for the good of humanity. He represents scholastic capabilities and supreme intellect.
All the yogic ideals and practices in one way or the other are about improving your intelligence and awareness. In other words, life is all about learning, and you need to progress. There are numerous examples where people who have started with simple spiritual practices in their daily life and have multiplied their intelligence. So vouch today and strive a bit harder for the multiplication of knowledge and progress in life.
Ganesh Chaturthi is a perfect time to start afresh and set your goals for the coming months. Make a simple effort in life to progress example- ‘learn to talk less, listen more,’ ‘Desire less, gratify more.’
May Lord Ganesh remover of all the obstacles reward everyone with wisdom and peace.
