“We must always remain in a balanced state. If you noticed in the Bharatnatyam performance today, the dancer had a pleasant expression on her face throughout the dance inspite of having to do many turns and standing on one leg, etc. We can equate this with our life. When problems arise, we too tend to go round and round and face situations. But the Sadhana here is to maintain your balance throughout so that no matter what, we will not fall.
So we don’t know what we have to go through in life. Life is full of struggle and ups and downs. But what our role in life is to maintain our own balance, don’t react but hold on. Have faith that the right things will happen at the right time. And if any time, in difficulties if you cannot understand what must be done, guidance is required and that is where the Guru comes in.
But when you go to take guidance, you should be in a learning state, a humble state and willing to apply the teachings in life. So when you are clueless, the guidance should just be followed. But we don’t put in the effort. We tend to scold children and make them walk the right path. We focus on others and make them do the right things but we fail to focus on ourselves.
The entire yoga philosophy talks of self-development, self-evolution, taking responsibility of ourselves and doing our duty well in life. It is up to us to make our life joyful or sad. So let’s decide today that we will always remain balanced. Can we do that?”

Satsang is an open meeting held every Sunday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at The Yoga Institute, Santacruz East, Mumbai. It involves an interesting presentation to the public, made by the students of the Teacher Training Course. Each week, a new presentation of a Yogic concept is made in a simple way through skits and decoration for the general public, followed by a short speech from our Gurus, Dr. Jayadeva and Smt. Hansaji Yogendra.
