INDIFFERENCE

Stories that stir
INDIFFERENCE Dr. Patanjali J. Yogendra
Satan is once briefing his lieutenants on the techniques of tempting men. He tells his men that the object of this exercise is not teaching men to be just indifferent, nor persuading them to be evil, but the intention is to persuade them to do nothing at all.
The important thing Satan says is to keep the men comfortable. Let nothing upset or disturb him. If he becomes even a little concerned about any vital area, distract him by reminding him of good food and importance of maintaining good health to enjoy good food.
“I” said the Satan, “will always see to it that there are bad men. Your job is to provide me with men who do not care”.

Students of Yoga who take the concept of maintaining too far, always end up being indifferent. The object in this case is to do your duty with a detached attitude rather than doing nothing at all. Dynamic equilibrium, as students of science will call, and not static equilibrium.
