Dr. Jayadeva Yogendra:
“The discussion is about Samadhi. What we have to understand is that for knowledge, many things are involved. Words are there, meaning of the words, the understanding that comes. Many things join to make up the meaning. So when we talk of concentration, we have to go into details. We try to understand the words, the meaning, the knowledge it creates, alternatives and in that manner we arrive at a decision and say this is what it means. So when they talk of Samadhi they go into all these things and that way, they come to accurate understanding on which they base future decisions.”
Smt. Hansaji J. Yogendra:
“This sutra is coming after the earlier sutra where it is said that the mind has become absolutely clear like a prism. This mind which has no thoughts and doesn’t want to think – a clean state – when this mind is put on an object, then you see the object totally – Sabda, Artha, Jnana; and the mind stays with the object for a long time – Savitarka Samadhi. In the beginning, the mind needs some object on which it can dwell. It takes years of hard work to make the mind crystal clear. We may experience it only for a short while but we should try.”
