The Yoga Institute Organizes Yoga Convention to Celebrate 94th Foundation Day

The Yoga Institute, oldest organized centre of Yoga in the world, celebrates the completion of 94 years in Mumbai. On the occasion of its 94th Foundation Day celebrations, the institute is going to organize The World Householders’ Yoga Convention 2012 (WHY), a two day event on December 25 and December 26, 2012, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Yoga Institute in Santacruz East, Mumbai.

The two day event would include exhibition open for public, experience centre for householders, symposium and panel discussions with experts. The exhibition will showcase the pioneering research done by The Yoga Institute in Therapeutic Yoga, Yoga Indology and Yoga Education. The panel discussions including leading personalities from the fields of medicine, education, corporate, and media would be on three topics – Yoga is Education for Life, Life style Management and Yoga in Healthcare Management and Yoga guide to Living life. And the experience centre facilitating programmes like Samattvam (means a balanced state of mind) will give the householders a chance to know the physical as well as the subtle (mental, emotional and spiritual) effects of Yoga.

Shri Yogendraji, founder of The Yoga Institute or the heart of modern Yoga renaissance, had pioneered work in Yoga Theraputics and Research to help people gain balanced state of mind and cure them from various kinds of diseases. 94 years later, his legacy still continues as the Institute gears up to organize a World Householders’ Yoga Convention.

On the glorious completion of 94 years of The Yoga Institute, Smt. Hansaji Jayadeva Yogendra, Director of The Yoga Institute, said, “As Patañjali, the compiler of the Yoga Sūtras, emphasizes on control of the mind which is done on the intellectual as well as emotional level, we want to help each individual in the world to feel true relaxation of body and mind and learn how simple Yoga practices help to gain clarity of mind and strength of character.”

The Yoga Institute in Mumbai till date has successfully helped more than ten million people over three generations through more than a hundred thousand programmes. The institute with the approach to propagate the message of Yoga to householders has aimed at training students with the modules on better living facilitated by experts to accelerate social well being.
