The Shri Yogendra Library was inaugurated on 18th November, 1978, at The Yoga Institute.
While inaugurating the library, Prof. T.R. Anantharaman, Director of Yoga Sadhana Kendra, Banaras Hindu University, said, “I have come on a pilgrimage. If this is not a pilgrimage, where else will I find one?…I have the privilege of inaugurating the Shri Yogendra Library located here in this quiet and peaceful surrounding….In our country there has been a tradition of hearing, reflecting, and pondering, and making the knowledge available for self-realization…” Most visitors to the library echo the sentiments of Prof Anantharaman.
The Shri Yogendra Library contains more than 6,000 books in various languages and on various subjects related to the study of yoga and spirituality. Besides several scriptures and their commentaries, there are books on Samkhya philosophy, Ashtanga Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, Tantra Yoga, etc.
The collections on philosophy, human physiology, psychology, history, and culture, etc. are enough to satisfy the needs of the keen students and teachers of yoga.
