Some quick yogic tips to help manage stress that seems unmanageable

“A” for Ahar or Diet– Try to eat home cooked sattvic meals. Avoid fast f oods. Opt for seasonal greens, fresh fruits and organic vegetables. Control the food portions. Eat only when hungry. Do not overeat. As per the yoga, texts to remain active fill your stomach half with food, 1/4th with liquids and keep 1/4th empty.

“V” for Vihar or Thoughts-Think good thoughts. Do good deeds and smile each day. Do meditation to clear your thinking.

“A” for Achar or Routines– Get up early each day. Plan your day the previous night. Avoid late night parties. Eat on time. Do not skip breakfast

“V” for Vihar or Relaxation-Relaxation with the family is the best. Set aside some time each day to enjoy with family. Share jokes or play games together each day. Laughter is the best medicine. Make healthy routines each day for example- have one meal together as a family.

How can Yoga help with stress that seems unmanageable? The answer is simple through lifestyle changes, regular asana, pranayama and relaxation practices.

Yoga asana includes stretches and also breathing which helps to relax the muscles and helps to reduce the heart rate and calm the nervous system. Also, the immune system is benefited.  You can include these asanas in your daily practice to de-stress.

A must pranayamas to de-stress are abdominal breathing pranayama and Anulom-Vilom pranayama. These help to breathing better calm the nervous system and great de-stressors. 

 

 

Eagle Pose (Garudasana) or Ekpadasana –Improves your concentrate and focus, which is an excellent de-stressing tool.

Child’s Pose (Balasana)– Blood circulation is increased in the head region, and oxygenation and the Central nervous system is befitted.

Thunderbolt Pose (Vajrasana) – Helps to improve the digestion and thus quality, restful sleep which is much needed to de-stress.

Supta Vakrasana– This posture is great to relieve the lower back pain and de-stress. Try is each morning as soon as you get up after using the washroom.

Shavasana or conscious relaxation is a great way to end your day. Just ensure you had an early and light dinner. So unwind daily and experience the bliss.
