Multiple stimuli these days from the Gifs to INSTA, Whatsapp silly videos; a constant sing of pings and dings even yogis can find it problematic to focus on one task for long. But learning to focus isn’t just better for your business sure the productivity will improve as you master concentration, but so also your interpersonal relationships and happiness will increase. Because joy comes not from experiencing joyful events, but it comes from right attitude and perspective. This can be achieved by paying attention to what’s right.
When distractions come up during work resist the urge to Google things for example- that café’ or restaurant lookup write it down and then get back to work. It’s the same norm used during meditation. In meditation, you do not give into thoughts or give into them. You practice Dharana and Dhyana where you acknowledge their presence but allow them to pass. Similarly, at the end of your day, you let yourself come back to that list. It is a simple change, but you will be amazed at the sheer number of distractions. Upon correct reflection, you will realise so needy at the moment but after the end of that day no longer relevant. Make it a habit of jotting down daily distractions and then seeing what actually requires your attention. This exercise will help you to make better decisions and improve concentration.
Prepare yourself for each day. Add all that needs to be done to your priority list for the next day. Now rest and let go. Also, work on reducing your desires each day.
