Let’s focus on two common concerns among women – infertility and PCOS – and explore how yogic techniques can effectively address these issues.

Yoga for Infertility

Yoga for Infertility is an essential practice to promote a family’s health and well-being. Irregular menstrual cycles can often be a source of discomfort and stress for women as it can cause infertility. Yoga offers a holistic approach to wellness, addressing not only the physical but also the mental and emotional aspects of health.

Yogic Asanas for Menstrual Regularity and PCOS

It is important for women to live an active lifestyle with at least a moderate amount of exercise every day. Yoga for irregular periods includes the following poses:

Paryankasana: This pose is especially good for women because it exerts deep pressure on the utero-abdominal and genito-urinary muscles which are usually in a relaxed state. At the same time, it gives a fresh supply of blood to the sex organs.

Bhadrasana: This asana provides an extreme stretch to the pelvis and groin. It strengthens the muscles of the lower abdomen.

Sarvangasana: As a full-body reverse pose, Sarvangasana speeds up the drainage of blood vessels in the abdominal and pelvic organs. Here gravity works to your advantage and has a good effect in maintaining hormonal balance.

Yoga for PCOS and irregular periods can help to regulate hormones, improve digestion and circulation, alleviate pain and discomfort, and reduce stress and anxiety. Learn and practice these asanas to manage PCOS naturally and to bring a balance in your lifestyle.

Other Technique for Irregular Periods and PCOS

Ashwini mudra

Every day before taking a bath, sit in a tub of warm water with your legs outside for at least 5 minutes. While sitting like this, do the Ashwini mudra by contracting and relaxing the anal and genital muscles. Inhale while contracting and gently exhale while relaxing. Do this mindfully and slowly about 5 to 6 times.

Ashwini mudra strengthens the muscles of your uterus and regulates the menstrual cycle. Some women have reported amazing results from a daily practice of hip bath and Ashwini mudra. You may stop this practice when your menstrual cycle comes back to normal.

Maintain a normal weight

Our next point is to - Maintain a normal weight by eating healthy.

You know, many of your health concerns, including irregular periods, will gradually go away only if you maintain a normal weight. The best way to do this is have simple, healthy and fresh home-cooked meals.

Eating fruits like pineapples, mangoes and unripe papayas regularly can regulate periods.

Ginger is also very good. Ginger contains gingerol that helps in contracting the uterine muscles and improving hormonal balance. Include ginger in your meals or drink ginger tea by boiling a teaspoon of crushed root ginger in a cupful of water.

Meditation and pranayama

To bring a balance to the functions of your body, it is important to keep your mind in a balanced state all the time. At the Institute, our students say this as an affirmation every day.

Learn how to meditate from an experienced teacher or practice from an app. The Institute also has an app called Nispand which has several different types of healing and calming meditation techniques that you can choose from.

The classic pranayama Anulom Vilom, if done every day, will also help you in keeping your mind and body in a balanced state.

Our Mother Sita Devi was a pioneer in yogic education for women. In one of her books, she has written: “It is the duty of every woman to safeguard her health against those ailments to which as a woman she is peculiarly liable.”

As a woman, your reproductive health can be easily maintained and kept in balance. Just become more aware of your body’s needs and provide it with some loving care.
