We believe Yoga is a way of life and does not comprise of only physical culture, as generally understood. Our practical applications of yogic ideals in daily life include the simple philosophies behind the techniques of yoga that contributes to better living.
The techniques taught in our Institute aim at removing the cause of the physical illness if any, and thereafter enhancing the mental attributes (leading to a calm, concentrated and steady mind) thereby realizing one’s own potential and spiritual development.
We at The Yoga Institute, imbued with the true spirit of Yoga, have been instrumental in bring about a positive change in the communities associated with us, for over 97 years.

I had attended the diabetes camp at The Yoga Institute and the experience was very enriching. The talks especially about linking the personality traits to the disease and about details regarding the food chart were very helpful.
The article by Ajay Kalra in the October 2016 issue was an eye opener. One can never gauge the challenges someone is facing, and the transformation by the end of the yoga course shows that it all comes down to the efforts put in by the individual. The course can be life changing.
Thanks for your cooperation and hospitality. Our visit to The Yoga Institute was a great experience for me and my team.
I wish to appreciate the August 2016 issue of Yoga and Total Health. Right from the cover which depicts ‘Om’ the symbol of godliness, to all the articles within, the journal is impressive. Smt. Hansaji’s article, ‘What is yoga’ is very concise, yet subtly expresses the meaning of yoga. I am also much impressed by the articles ‘Four Satsangs’ and ‘From the Archives of Yoga and Total Health – Yoga, A way of life both, which have a very enriching matter to present! I look forward and await the next issues of the journal.
I owe you and the Yogendra family a huge debt of gratitude. For changing my life as a teenager and giving me the tools to cope with the storms of life. I have not forgotten anything you have done for me, nor will I ever.
This is to acknowledge our sincere gratitude for deputing experienced Yoga teacher from The Yoga Institute along with a volunteer for demonstrating Yoga at our office on 21st June, 2016. We would like to place on record that the lecture and demonstration was excellent in nature and was well accepted and appreciated by everyone who attended the programme. We would like to be associated with your esteemed organisation for yoga practice in future also.
In this city it is hard to find nature and peace of mind. At The Yoga Institute I found both. It reminded me of my dance Gurukul. This is the way you educate people. Smt. Hansaji’s talks and examples made sense to me. She spoke of very basic things; one just needs to feel and see. The Shri Yogendra Museum at the Institute was quite educating. I don’t know much about Yogendraji, but his trip taught me about lot of other yoga practitioners as well. The food here was like my home; very simple and filling.
Hearty Congratulations to you for opening your new center in Matunga and extending your arms to reach out to more people. We, your alumnus are so proud to be part of this august institute! This is just the beginning. Waiting thaw day you will cross the seven seas and when we can welcome you here in this part of the world!!
I always look forward to reading the Yoga sutra summary by Shri Samar Chaihan. His explanations are very detailed and he covers the finer points of the Sutra very well. The effort and dedication of the author reflects in the content. Keep up the good work.
I appreciate The Yoga Institute for many reasons; they have different activities which I enjoy seeing. One example is the camp on 12th April 2016, for people who were disabled from birth. There are numerous other organizations that do this, but this camp at the Institute had a great impact on me. But the best thing about The Yoga Institute is the Director Smt. Hansaji lectures, which the sometimes gives at the open auditorium at the Institute. They have changed my way of thinking for the better. Her advice, “Always do your best in life in no matter what you do,” has helped me a lot in life. She says that even a menial job of cutting wood should be done with devotion and one should bring joy to it. A housewife makes Chapattis every day, but she can cut different shapes like a square, a triangle, etc. which Smt. Hansaji herself did when she used to make Chapattis. Her next advice was, “think before you open your mouth. Do not retaliate to everyone who does not say good words to you.” This has helped me keep my emotions in check.
The course has provided me with the required training and tools to confidently take an Asanas class.
Life at the Institute was very different from my routines. Hence I had to put in constant and dedicated efforts, as the Yoga Sutra says, to fight against my resistance to discipline. With constant efforts I was able to regularly write the ten positive points and do the reflection daily. I now try to live each day with a sense of purpose.
I chose The Yoga Institute to do the Teacher Training Course (TTC) as it appeared to be the perfect place for me. More than half way through the course, I saw myself being more detached, more accepting and loving of myself. The Institute has given me the right keys to open the closed doors within myself.
The Institute has helped me understand Dharma Bhava and the hierarchy of duties. I have learned that maintaining my peaceful state of mind is my first Dharma.
Ajay Bansal ( 55 years ) , Transport Business ) I had joined the Institute in 1983 because of severe depression for last 6 years . The medicines continued for some time and I could give it up in a years’ time completely. I did the Teachers Course in 1986 and since then teaching honorary at the Institute. Now I cure other people's depression. The psychiatrist under whom I was, brought his son to me. His son was taking alcohol and coming home drunk. I guided him and he gave up drinks, finished his studies and is now employed. I could overcome my stammering habit. I started the transport business in 1991 (which requires the person to be really tough; I was a rabbit). Over the years business has grown. "Some people give happiness whenever they go. Some give happiness wherever they go ". Before joining the Institute I was in the former category, but now I am in the latter category. I have no health problems and leading a very happy & meaningful life. All thanks to the training at the Institute.
I am a student from the May 2015 batch of the Teacher training Course and I receive the Yoga and Total Health magazines every month from The Yoga Institute. They are really useful and good to read. Thank you for the same. Looking forward to more of such material.
I enjoyed reading about The Yoga Institute and its founders and followers. I am extremely inspired by the devotion made by the founders and their descendants towards such a noble task of popularizing yoga and its benefits over the world for the past 97 years. It motivated me a lot and made me keen on joining The Yoga Institute sometimes in the future especially for the Three months Yoga Teacher Training Course. Being a working professional, I am just looking for an appropriate leave time for such a long course!
Thank you so much for all your help and training. I became a new person after spending almost a year with both of you. I am very blessed for having such an opportunity in my life. I can also help others as I teach them what I have learnt from you.
I came to The Yoga Institute only because yoga was one of the subjects in my Master’s programme. I wanted to know more about yoga. I thought it might help me great my patients better. I had no idea that the yoga course would completely transform my perspective about life. It started with a small ray of light lighting my path and slowly grew and developed me like the sun’s warm rays.
I am thrilled to nurture to inner self through the 1 months teacher training course at The Yoga Institute which I completed in March 2015.
